Gunpowder served with Idly or Dosa

Instructions

  • Fry the below ingredients separately:
    Dried Red Chillies (250g)
    Chana Dal (1cup)
    Urid Dal (2 cups)
    Asafetida (1-2 tsp)
    Ellu/Sesame (50g) – optional
    Curry Leaves (1 handful) – optional
  • Grind the above with salt
  • Add Garlic (10) and grind coarsely – optional

Notes

Karuvapillai Podi
Repeat above but add extra curry leaves, no asafetida, no garlic and little less chilly
