Instructions

  • Boil Chana Dal (1 cup) till soft. Grind it coarsely. Set aside
  • Grind Coconut (1). Set aside
  • Heat Jaggery till it melts. Strain
  • Heat the strained Jaggery and add Chana Dal, Coconut and Salt. Cook till dry. Set aside
  • Mix Plain flour, Orange Food Colour Powder and Bicarbonate Soda. Add Water and Gingelly oil. Knead to a smooth dough
  • Cover and leave for at least an hour
  • Take a small portion of the dough and roll it into a ball
  • Spread the ball on a banana leaf. Extra oil should help it spread easily on the leaf
  • Take some Jaggery-Coconut mixture and place it in the middle of the ball. Roll it into a ball again and spread it out so that the mixture is evenly distributed
  • Heat pan. Place the Boli on the hot pan and cook on both sides.
